1959 - Played in Mendel High School Catholic League Champion Lightweight Basketball Team, coached by Hall of Famers' Ben Reilly and Ray Doran.
1963 - While still in college, coached St. John Fisher 8th grade football team to a 12-0-0 record. They were the Southwest Conference Champion. Three players from that team played football in the Big Ten Conference in college.
1967-1974 - Coached football at Brother Rice High School, starting as freshman coach, finishing as defensive coordinator in 1974 with Hall of Famer Tom Mitchell. In 1974 had the number one defense in the Catholic League–least points allowed and least yardage allowed.
1975 -1995 - Officiated football in the Chicago Catholic League
- Worked four Catholic League Championships and three Prep Bowls.
- In 1989 I refereed what I still consider the biggest game in my career, the St. Rita-Mount Carmel game when they were ranked Number 1 and Number2 in the State of Illinois–in front of full house at Gately Stadium.
1992-2006 - Big ten Football Official (Back Judge)
1998 - Officiated Peach Bowl, Atlanta, Georgia
1999 - Officiated Orange Bowl, Miami, Florida
2000 - Officiated Aloha Bowl, Honolulu, Hawaii
2003 - Recipient of Butch Lambert All American Award for contributions to college football
2003 - Vice President, Big Ten Football Officials Association
2004 - President, Big Ten Football Officials Association
2004 - Inducted into Central Officials Association Hall of Fame
Presently - Instant Replay Official (Technical Advisor) Big Ten Conference
Had a great love of 16-inch softball. Played with the National Champion Chicago Bobcats from 1978-1990.
